Borge Ring - Artbook - Jan-Willem de Vries - 64 pages Oscar winner Børge Ring was a Danish musician, cartoonist and cartoonist living in the Netherlands, who had an 'unparalleled life' on stage and at the drawing table. Børge Ring has played in popular jazz orchestras and made cartoons for Steven Spielberg and Marten Toonder, among others. In 1985 he won an Oscar for his Anna and Bella, in 2000 the UNICEF Children's award for Run of the Mill and in 2011 the highly prestigious Winsor McCay Award for his lifetime animator. The reader gets a look behind the scenes at the animator Ring. Sketches, storyboards and scenes from various cartoons are reviewed. Material from well-known cartoons such as 'Oh my darling' and 'Anna & Bella', but also lesser-known work, such as the dozens of commercials that Ring made. It is performed bilingually in Dutch and English.
